History

Drill-Lab Limited was established as a company in 1990 to meet the increasing needs for specialised services in oil & gas exploration. From the very beginning, the company has defined as its main activity the monitoring and control of drilling operations and rig-site geological services, i.e. mudlogging.

Drill-Lab's first mudlogging unit was located in Austria, on the OMV well Kronberg 1 in 1991 and the first job in Poland was on the Różańsko-1 rig site, North western Poland in 1992, providing geological consulting and professional mudlogging services for the client.

In March 1994, the private limited company Drill-Lab Sp. z o.o. was established and registered in Poland, setting up its headquarters in Zielona Gora, Poland.

At the time, our main customer in Poland was Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo, but ever since we have also provided our services to foreign companies such as TEXACO Wielkopolska Energia and Apache Poland. Moreover, together with Drill-Lab Limited, we have been involved in work in Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador.

An important date in the history of the company was June 1999, when a subsidiary company was registered in Kazakhstan, initially under the name of Drill-Lab-Almas and as of 2003 known as Drill-Lab Kazakhstan. The first work of Drill-Lab Kazakhstan on a rig site started in 2000 and since then the company has successfully served our clients using its nine mudlogging units bearing the Drill-Lab logo.

Also, in 1999 Drill-Lab became an authorized distributor for M-I Drilling Fluids (Smith/Schlumberger Company) in Poland. This gave us valuable experience in the field of drilling fluid solutions, systems and products.

In November 2001, Drill-Lab was certified by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with the standard ISO 9001 for its main business objectives, i.e. the controlling and monitoring of the drilling process along with accompanying activities while performing oil or geological drilling.

In the years 2002 to 2004, our mudlogging units successfully worked on rig sites in Turkmenistan and Turkey.

At the beginning of the 2000s, making use of the long term expierience of its technical staff, Drill-Lab launched development, production and sale of state-of-the-art rig-site monitoring and recording systems.

Since then our engineers and programmers have created newer and more perfect editions of the systems, which include high precision sensors, an advanced data aquisition system and custom-developed software, as well as other equipment used in the oil & gas and surface logging industry.

The years 2010 to 2013 brought other great projects and valuable experience through work on rig sites in Poland and Uganda for clients such as ENI, Tullow and Total.

September 2011 witnessed ISO 14001 certification, which proved our commitment to the continuous improvement approach to monitor and minimize our impact on the environment, as well as foresee accidents and incidents.

Since 2013, our mud logging units have successfully been working on rig sites in Serbia and Hungary.

In December 2014, Drill-Lab was OHSAS 18001 certified in relation to the prevention of occupational hazards and it's complete Integrated Management System (IMS) successfully audited, and then ISO 45001 in December 2020.
